Intergovernmental Relations
Intergovernmental Relations and Development
The purpose of this Committee is to review intergovernmental issues and generate discussion that address both the policy and technical nature of these issues. Intergovernmental issues are defined as issues whose practice or resolution involves interacting with other agencies – either through collaboration or negotiation. The outcome of the Committee’s discussion will include issue summaries and/or recommendations for the Board of Directors. This Committee was created in 2010 by the Board of Directors by merging the Intergovernmental Relations and Planning committees. As part of one of the world's major metropolitan areas, the Conference works to ensure members are an active part of local and regional initiatives to address regional development, land use, economic development, and housing issues. The Committee oversees the Conference's involvement in these areas and has worked to create regional development guidelines to help guide the Conference's decision-making on "Smart Growth" proposals. The Conference has also prepared special studies on the growing diversity of DuPage residents, as well as on tools that municipalities can use to enhance community character. |
